Third-person survival and horror RPG

Daymare: 1998 is a single-player horror RPG that has been designed to mimic many classic platforms associated with the late 1990s. Combining a bleak storyline with mutant combatants and a post-apocalyptic flavor, this game provides what can only be called a decidedly nostalgic touch.

It seems that the developers of this game have been at least partially inspired by classic horror role-playing games, such as Resident Evil 3. Not only will this appeal to fans of gore, but strategic gameplay is another important element not to be overlooked.

Classic FPS mechanics

While this can be considered a shoot 'em up game to an extent, players will need to think ahead if they hope to survive. This is why classic elements such as a limited amount of ammunition, collectible power-ups, and challenging enemies have been included.

Cutting edge graphics

Although Daymare: 1998 takes some cues from traditional 1990s games, the graphics themselves are quite modern. This is due to the fact that they were created with the Unreal 4 gaming engine. Thus, players will be immersed in extremely realistic environments.

The use of a heads-up display

The in-game mechanics are further streamlined, thanks to the presence of a heads-up display (HUD). Players can use this interface to track important metrics such as their health, where they are located on a virtual map, and what type of weapon they have currently deployed.

An homage to the 1990s

Daymare: 1998 is a true testament to well-known classics, such as Aliens vs. Predator. As there are numerous Easter eggs that refer back to the late 1990s, it will certainly appeal to anyone who recalls the halcyon days of intense PC-based gaming.
